Two Cards Using Paper Smooches Cuties - And A Card From A Friend

Today I decided to make a clean card with a simple message and a sweet image....and not too many colours or textures...and then I wanted to make another simple card using the swipe stamping technique shown by Jennifer McGuire....also,a new friend has surprised me with a card and I was so happy to receive something so beautiful...I'm sharing a pic of her card too.. :)

For my first card, the card base has been made from a textured light grey cardstock and the top layer has been die cut from watercolour cardstock using Avery Elle pierced rectangle die....I created a mask using one of the Nestabilities Labels 1 die and placed it on the top layer...I then sponged in weathered wood and hickory smoke Distress inks in this masked section...

I stamped, coloured in and die cut the cute dog image from Paper Smooches Woofers and Tweeters stamp set and placed it on the coloured in section...I stamped the sentiment on a white die cut label and placed it on a larger blue die cut label using foam squares...Finally I added a few silver sequins to embellish this card...

For my second card,I chose a plain white base and a bright blue mat layer...the top layer is white again and I have used the same two stamps with various dye inks to create the background...the swiping technique is pretty easy...to get this textured kind of stamped image all you have to do is ink the stamp and swipe it across the ink pad and quickly stamp it on the paper...so easy...I think in the past I may have un-intentionally used this technique and thrown away the result... :)

On a separate piece of cardstock I stamped the little chick, coloured it in and cut it out...I then heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder on a blue strip and layered it with a strip of purple glitter cardstock...I used the slightly wider strips on the opposite side and placed the little chick on top...

A month or so back,I had sent a birthday card to a new crafty Instagram friend Zsofia...she's a talented crafter and a blogger(safsafdesign)... and imagine my surprise when I opened my letterbox to check the post earlier today...this gorgeous card with a sweet message inside was there for me....

Thank you Zsofia....your card is sitting on my desk at the moment...looking very pretty...and inspiring me..!!
