Birthday Card

Image
We've now reached the last day of November for this year...and very soon 2016 will be over...card makers all over the world have been sharing such beautiful and artistic Christmas cards for the past couple of months which were a huge inspiration....I'll be sharing my Christmas creations starting tomorrow....but first,a cute birthday card for today...
The card base is plain white and the top layer has been die cut from watercolour cardstock using a large stitched rectangle die...I then sponged in some salty ocean and mowed lawn distress inks for the background...
On a separate piece of cardstock I stamped, coloured in and cut out the giraffe and birds from various Lawn Fawn stamp sets...I had to mirror stamp the girraffe stamp for this card...I then stamped and die cut the large scripty sentiments using orange dye ink and die cut them using the coordinating dies...
I assembled the images on the card front in a way that it seems like the birds and giraffes are holding a banner.…

Thanks Card

Image
I usually go for very bright and colourful cards so for a change decided to make today's card using earthy colours....
The card base is plain sepia and the top layer has been die cut from watercolour cardstock using large cross stitched rectangle die....I have sponged the top layer using tea dye distress ink and die cut a circle in it...I placed a frosted gold paper behind the top layer to cover the die cut area...
I then die cut and watercoloured a few leaf dies and placed them on the frosted gold area and added a die cut stitched gold circle frame on top...
The sentiment is a wood veneer word by Stampin' Up! and I have used gold sequins to embellish the card...to add a little pop of colour to my card I punched out two red butterflies and added them to the card...
I'm so glad you stopped by to take a look at my card today....Hope you will have a beautiful day ahead...!!

Hello Sunshine

Image
Today I'm sharing a bright and cute card with lots of 'pink'...I think it would be a good one to say hello and cheer someone up at the same time...
I chose a black card base and a white top layer...I used a couple of shades of pink distress inks and sponged them in to cover the top layer...then I stamped the background using a pink dye ink and few small stamps...I also stamped the sentiment at the top, leaving space for the little Polaroid section...
On a separate piece of cardstock stamped and coloured in the little girl in a bear onesie image and masked it to sponge in the background then cut it to size so it fits the back of the black Polaroid die cut...
Finally I adhered a few enamel dots to embellish the card...
Thank you for visiting today...Happy crafting...!!!

Happy Bird-day

Image
This is officially the last week of spring in Australia...it has been a rather wet, cold and windy one for the south-east of the country but hopefully we should see a good summer...days are getting longer and that means there is good light to plan or finish a few projects...
Today I'm sharing a 'bird-day' card I have made using another very cute Clearly Besotted stamp set called Bird Bath...the card base is made from a textured green cardstock and the top layer is plain white...
I started by firstly sponging in some green distress ink for the grass and then using a cloud mask and blue distress ink,I added a few clouds....I then stamped the birds and the bird bath using black ink....
Once the colouring in was complete,I stamped the sentiment and adhered the top layer to the card base....I used a few rhinestones to embellish the card...
Thank you so much for taking the time and visiting my blog today...Hope you will have a wonderful day ahead...!!

Word Window Card & Sentiment Backdrop Card

Image
Continuing my technique learning theme from yesterday, I tried out two cards following tutorials by Jennifer McGuire....here are the results...
For my first card I followed her Word Window Card tutorial....I have used a lavender card base and a white top layer...I stamped the flower and leaves stamps on the top layer and coloured them in using Peerless watercolors....
I then used a Happy Anniversary word die and die cut the word on the top layer as well as the front of the card...I adhered a strip of acetate behind the top layer die cut area and then adhered the top layer to the card base...and the card was ready with a see through word element...
I have used a lot of clear sequins to embellish this card...

For my second card I followed Jennifer's tutorial for creating Sentiment Backdrops...this is a great technique for creating cards with no layers....

On a white card base,I stamped the large cupcake stamp and coloured it in...I also stamped the sentiment using black ink just un…

Sending Love - Shaker Card

Image
It's so exciting for me when I follow a great tutorial, learn a good technique and things turn out as they should....and that says a lot about the person who taught me how to create that particular item...one of the bloggers whose tutorials I love is Therese Calvrid (Lost In Paper blog) - her tutorials and excellent and her cards are fantastic....
To make today's card,I followed her tutorial from the last week of September in which she created a word shaker card...she has also recently created another card for a blog hop where she has used a similar technique...
Now,I'm not saying my card turned out superb and all that but what I learnt was an excellent technique....and hopefully I can make my next card using this technique a lot better...
I used a red card base(and forgot to add the washi tape in the background)...I used distress inks to create the background on the top layer and then followed Therese's tutorial to create the shaker card...I used a stamp to complete t…

Say It With Flowers - Two Cards

Image
Today I am sharing two cards....The first one is a simple thank you card with a lacy background and the second one has a very bright and colourful background....the one thing that both these cards have in common is that I have used border stamps to create the background...
For the first card I chose a dark pink card base and a white top layer....using a slate coloured ink I stamped the border image at the top and the bottom of the white top layer....the MISTI came in very handy at this point as I could easily re-stamp to cover any areas that got missed...
Using the same ink,I stamped the sentiment in the middle....then on a separate piece of cardstock I stamped the flowers using pink distress ink and the leaves using green...I sponged in the flowers and leaves with the same distress inks that I stamped them with...I cute these out and placed them on the card...
I have used a few pink sequins to embellish this card...

My second card has a light mustard coloured card base and a bright …

Just Because..

Image
I have always admired card makers who create beautiful cards with a crisp white background...it's not easy when you are using inks and all sorts of colouring mediums...but I guess practice and a bit of planning makes it better...so today I'm sharing a card that turned out just right.....
The card base is plain white and I have used a lime green mat layer...the top layer is also white and I have stamped two doily stamps - one large and one small - on the top layer using black ink...
On a separate piece of white cardstock I stamped a couple of other smaller doily stamps with black ink as well and partially coloured them in and cut them out...then using adhesive foam for a bit of dimension, I placed two of these in the middle of the stamped doilies and another one on the side...
The sentiment is from an Altenew stamp set called Painted Greetings...
I have not used any embellishments on this card but have used glossy accents to make the center of the doilies a bit more brighter and sh…

Stripes With Die Cut Inlay Cards

Image
Every time my leftover paper stash starts getting bigger,I make sure I spend time using paper from it rather than use new sheets....and since I use a lot of coloured cardstock for my cards,I have a whole lot of coloured leftovers that I sort and store in see through folders...so when I saw the tutorial by Jennifer McGuire in which she used strips of leftover cardstock to create a decorative element for her card,I knew was going to try it out...
Here's the link to the tutorial by Jennifer McGuire - Stripe Inlay
I created the striped panel following the tutorial and created two cards from it...the first card has a big panel ..I die cut the word 'hi' from the panel and replaced it with white die cut word...I used a stitched border die on two sides of the panel before adhering it to the kraft top layer of the card...then using the stitched rectangle die,I ran the top layer through my die cut machine...
Once the top layer was ready,I adhered it to a white card base and embelli…

Pop - Up Birthday Card

Image
I am very excited to share my card today.....after trying out my first pop up card just a few weeks ago,I wanted to make a bright and colourful birthday pop-up card...I have used a lot of colours in the card,on the inside,so I wanted to keep the front/outside simple...
I have used a plain white card base...there are no layers on the front as I was going to add a full layer on the inside for the pop-ups and I didn't want the card to be too bulky...
For the front on the card I die cut the words 'make a wish' using white as well as red cardstock, glued them together and stuck them to the card...I then coloured in a small piece of cardstock using distress inks and the die cut 4 candles and placed them on the card too...to embellish the card I have used colourful sequins...
For the inside of the card I cut out a white insert slightly smaller the the card and scored it in the middle...I then sponged in various distress inks to cover the insert....I also sprinkled a bit of water …

To Celebrate You!

Image
I had created this geometric background top layer for a different card but that wasn't working quite well so I held on to it until I could make a better card using it...I was still a bit unsure about using it with the flowers, but once I had coloured them in,it looked pretty good...
The card base is plain yellow and the top layer has been die cut using watercolour cardstock and cross stitched rectangle die...I then sponged in various shades of yellow distress inks to cover the  top layer...I printed the geometric pattern using a craft stencil and orange distress ink...
On a separate piece of cardstock,I stamped the flowers and jar from the Stampendous - Bouquet For You stamp set and coloured them in using Peerless watercolours...I die cut these two using the coordinating dies from the set and placed them onto the card...
The sentiment has been stamped on a small strip of yellow cardstock and I have used a few sequins to embellish the card...
Thank you so much for stopping by to ta…

Mood Board Inspiration - My Very First 2016 Christmas Cards

Image
Today I'm sharing two cards that I made after being inspired by a mood board at the Scrapbook Boutique Challenge on its blog...I will be sharing all my other Christmas creations on my blog from December 01 as I've only just started on them... :)
This is my very first challenge blog entry...I have entered a few Facebook challenges before and keep thinking that I should participate in a few blog challenges too but never do...so finally today is the day when I start...wish me luck..!!

This is the mood board provided for the November Challenge...I loved the glittery blue and pink baubles....so I chose those colours to make my cards with ....
For my first card I chose a Kraft cardstock card base and a plain white top layer...I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment using gold heat embossing powder.....I then die cut the base of the ornament from the top layer and wrapped a gold string around the top..
In the cut out section,I placed a snowflake ornament which I have die cut using…

Colourful Thank You Card

Image
The was one of the easiest and most fun colourful background I've made recently....and no prizes for guessing what ink I've used...Distress inks of course...!!
I have used a blue cardstock for the card base and water colour cardstock for the top layer...then I used a 1'' circle punch and some scrap copy paper and created a few stencils...I could've used an acetate sheet for the same...but it was much faster and convenient with paper...
Using bright distress ink colours and the paper stencils,I started printing the pattern on the top layer...I then stamped, heat embossed and die cut the sentiment....coloured in and cut out a little fairy image...and placed both of them on the card...I have used a few rhinestones to embellish this card...
I'm so glad and thankful you stopped by to take a look at my card....Hope you will have a beautiful day ahead...!!

Happy Birthday Flowers

Image
I just looove the layering flower stamps by Altenew....they just need a bit of practice at the start but once you get a hang of things, the results are excellent....and if your colouring in skills are still a bit in the 'not quite right' category like me,then these stamps will make you look like a pro.... :)
I started with a black cardstock card base and a white top layer....on the top layer I have stamped the stripes using Versamark ink and then heat embossed them with gold embossing powder..I stamped the sentiment just above the top stripe...
On a separate piece of cardstock,I stamped the Altenew Painted Flowers, cut them out and placed them on the card...I have used just three gold sequins to embellish the card...
Thank you for visiting my blog today...Have a happy and crafty day...!!

Count Your Life By Smiles

Image
Today's card was another quick one....and the background was not created for it as such....in fact I was just trying out one of the distress mini kits - Kit 4 - to see what the colours were like on paper...they looked great so I went ahead and used it as the top layer for this card...
I have used silver cardstock for the base of this card....I then used the largest stitched rectangle die to die cut the top layer...then using grey ink,I stamped the sentiment on the top layer...
Using silver glitter cardstock and mini scallop dies,I die cut a frame and adhered it around the stamped sentiment...
Finally,on a separate piece of cardstock I stamped, coloured in and cut out the two butterflies and adhered them to the card...
Thank you for stopping by to take a look at my card...Have a blessed day today...!!

You Are Way Amazing

Image
I don't think I will ever tire of using Distress inks to create backgrounds for my cards...I love all the bright shades in this ink range and use them often...I still have to figure out what to use the lighter shades for...
Today's card has a plain white card base and a white top layer as well...on the top layer I have used three shades of distress inks to create the background...once the background was ready,I used a stencil and white pigment ink to sponge on the dots...
I stamped little Tilda blowing bubbles on a separate piece of cardstock and coloured it in,cut it out and placed it on the card...I stamped part of the sentiment with black ink and the 'amazing' word has been die cut from white cardstock...
I used clear sequins to embellish the card...the best part was that the clear sequins looked like bubbles that Tilda was blowing from her bubble blower...
Thank you for taking the time and visiting my blog today...Have a wonderful day ahead...!!

Look Who's Turning Two

Image
As I had mentioned in one of my earlier posts,I had just discovered Clearly Besotted stamps - and before  I could even start making and sharing cards using their stamps, they announced that they have temporarily closed their shop and will reopen in early 2017....I have loved receiving my wonderfully tissue wrapped and carefully packaged parcels from them and I wish them great success once the reopen...
I have used two of their very cute stamp sets to create today's card...All in onesie & You're purrfect....the images are all so cute in these sets so I had a hard time choosing...
The card base is plain white and so is the top layer....I used distress inks to cover the top layer for a shaded background..I then die cut a mini scalloped stitched rectangle from white cardstock and stamped the little girl in a cat onesie and coloured it in...
On a separate piece of cardstock I stamped, coloured in and cut out the two playful cats and the balloons and a gift and placed them on the…

Thanks A Latte

Image
It's a great feeling when my one layer stamping cards turn out well...adding layers and embellishments sometimes helps in making less mistakes or even hide a few mistakes....so on this card,by not using any layers or embellishments I had to make sure not to make any mistakes...
I started with a dark brown card base and a white top layer...I stamped the borders and sentiment first and then masked off that area using scrap paper...I then repeatedly stamped the takeaway coffee cup and the coffee beans on the top layer using Versafine black ink....
Once the ink was dry,I coloured in all the images using Spectrum Noir markers....since I wasn't going to add any embellishments on the card,I just used a bit of glossy accents on the coffee bean images...
Thanks a lot for visiting my blog today...Have a lovely & blessed day ahead....Happy crafting...!!

Cards For Sweet Friends

Image
Today I'm sharing two cards that I made with my sweet friends in mind...both cards are very different from each other....while the first one is quite bright and colourful,I tried colouring on kraft cardstock in the second card...
For my first card,I chose a blue card base and a white top layer...I stamped the paint splotches stamp in various colours on the top layer and then placed two die cut hot air balloons on it....I stamped the sentiment on a small piece of white cardstock and added a blue mat under it...finally I added some sequins to embellish the card...

For the second card I chose a Kraft card base and top layer....I stamped the candy stamp repeatedly on the top layer to create the background and then coloured them in using my Spectrum Noir markers and a white gel pen....

Using the 'sweet' word die,I die cut it from white cardstock a few times and layered them before placing on the card...then on a blue foil banner,I stamped the rest of the sentiment and placed i…
