Sunshine,Laughter & Flowers Card

Image
I used to love using patterned cardstock for card bases when I started cardmaking...but slowly I stopped using it altogether...I agree that a white card base brings out the most in a card, but I still can't stop myself from using coloured card bases and even printed cardstock bases once in a while...
So on a printed light+dark green card base,I prepared a white top layer by first masking off a triangular area near to bottom and then stamping a flower background stamp with light pink ink...once that was done,I used a ruler and pink maker to draw a line under the stamped area to make two distinct zones on the card...I stamped a dotted line stamp with green ink under the pink line...and finally stamped the sentiment under it...
The image at the base of the card is a clear stamp from Fizzy Moon called Special Wishes and I have cut it out from a separate piece of paper after colouring it in...
Once the top layer was ready and adhered to the card,I punched out some tiny butterflies from…

Colourful Congratulations Card

Image
It's a great feeling when you see someone work really hard and then get the results that they deserve....It really motivates them to stay inspired and keep up their hard work....
Today I'm sharing a Congratulations card....The card base is green and the top layer has been die cut from watercolour cardstock using the largest stitched rectangle die....I used an acetate sheet and dabbed various distress inks on it and sprayed it liberally with water....then I took the top layer and pressed it on top of acetate sheet to transfer all the ink onto this paper..
Once the top layer was dry,I added a die cut Polaroid frame with the stamped sentiment....for inside the frame I stamped, coloured and cut out the little girl image...I finally added a few clear sequins to the card to finish it....
Hope you like this card...

Easter Card And Small Basket

Image
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE....!!
I was making just one card for Easter this year and wanted everything to be perfect....so I chose everything for this card very carefully.....
I decided to use pastel shades of yellow and pink for the card base and middle layer...the top layer is white and has been lightly sponged on all sides using tattered rose and squeezed lemonade distress inks....I then stamped the tiny carrot stamp repeatedly and coloured them all in...
I stamped, coloured in and cut out the cute bunny and placed him near the base of the card....the sentiment has been stamped on a banner and I have two more banner layers underneath it...
To finish the card,I added quite a few light pink and yellow sequins on it...

After finishing the card,I decided to make a couple of small Easter baskets....I had seen a tutorial by Caroline last year and had bookmarked it to try out...these baskets were pretty easy and quick to make and turned out absolutely fabulous...and it looks small but can hold…

Post#200 - My 200th Post Encouragement Card...!!!!

Image
Thank you for visiting my blog today......you're reading my 200th post....I'm quite happy that I've been able to keep going with my craft and blog....being able to share my creations online with people from all over the world is an awesome feeling...and to hear encouraging words from talented crafters is even more fantastic....
The card is plain orange......the top layer is made using distress inks and water on watercolour paper...then I splattered it with Emerald colour Twinkling H2O using a paintbrush....once all the paint was dry,I stamped a butterfly on one corner of the card....
I have used three strips of paper to stamp the sentiment on and placed it at three different levels on the card...and then punched out butterflies from blue foil cardstock and added a red rhinestone on each of them before placing them on the card....
I hope you liked the card....Thanks for stopping by....

Image
Sympathy cards are not for show or decoration, but to convey condolences to the recipient...to send a small heartfelt message at the time when someone has lost a loved one...so I feel these cards do not require to be overly decorated or intricate...
I recently saw a few lovely sympathy cards on Pinterest....and even though I find them extremely hard to make,I thought I should try at least one....
I started with a plain black card base....For the top layer I used a printed cardstock and stamped and clear heat embossed the image in the center....I then covered the whole top layer with tea dye distress ink....I think it's called the resist technique...
I added a few thin strips of paper at the top and bottom of the prepared top layer and stamped the message near the bottom before adhering it to the card....I have used a few black adhesive pearls as the only embellishments on this card...
Hope you liked this card....Please let me know what you think.....

Image
I wonder if all of you have noticed how much I'm using distress inks these days......I don't have many colours but I still can't seem to stop using them...Whenever I feel like making a bright card,I automatically reach for them.....and they usually don't mess or stain anything...much easier to clean  up than stamping ink...
The card base is a plain bright yellow with a black first layer....the top layer is plain white and I have used a circles stencil and distress inks to create the pattern...I have also lightly misted it and that has created very tiny white spots on the pattern....
To make this card a bit different and fun,I stamped and coloured in a seal image and cut it out and instead of placing a ball etc above it's nose - I have placed a map pin with a heart on it....
The sentiment has been created from yellow cardstock using a banner die and stamp set.....and I have used a few tiny rhinestones to decorate the card....
Hope you liked this card....

Post#197 - Girl With Balloons Birthday Card

Image
I have recently started using the card size of 4.5"x 5.75" and I quite like it and plan to use this size often from now on.....especially for cards that I feel would otherwise have looked too full on a standard size card and might not justify the design....
The card base is a bright red one...and the top layer is made from watercolour paper that has been die cut from the largest stitched rectangle die....I then used peerless watercolours to  create a light background for the card....
Once the top layer was dry I stamped all the balloons and strings on it...on a separate piece of white cardstock, I stamped and coloured in the little girl and cut it out...I have used adhesive squares to adhere the image onto the card to give it a bit of dimension....
I then die cut the scripty word 'happy birthday' using a gold cardstock and placed it above the balloons...I have also added just a few golden star sequins on the balloons as embellishments...
Hope you liked this card...

Post#196 - Clutch Bag Style Gift Box

Image
This box does look like a clutch bag, doesn't it??I haven't made boxes in a while because I'm running out of space to keep them....but I 'had' to try this one out... :)
You'll find the excellent tutorial by Caroline here - Clutch Bag Gift Box Tutorial
It's an excellent tutorial and the box is quite a good size and looks so pretty.....
I have used a plain aqua cardstock for the top cover and a double sided printed paper for making the inside base of the box...The ribbon matches the box cover and so do the adhesive pearls that I used to decorate the box...
Hope you liked my box......

Post#195 - New Home Congratulations Card

Image
I have only ever made one more new home congratulations card before this one.....and that was for my friend, quite a few years ago....it's so exciting to get congratulatory messages and cards from friends and family when you buy your home...for most people a home is the biggest investment they will ever make in their lifetime...
For this card I chose a dark purple textured card base....all three layers are plain white which have been die cut using the stitched rectangles dies....on the middle layer I have used used various distress inks to create a watercolour effect..the top layer has a key stamped with gold pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder....I punched a hole near the top of the key and threaded some thin cord from it....
Once all the layers were properly adhered to the card,I stamped the sentiment on the 2nd layer and also stamped the words home sweet home on separate pieces of paper and adhered them using adhesive squares...I have used a few sequins t…

Image
Today I'm sharing a bright card which was pretty quick to make.....I like making these kind of cards when I want to try out a colour scheme.....or when I'm totally out of ideas.....which happens a lot more than I like...
The card base is plain green and the top layer is white....on the top layer I have stamped various sizes of circles using purple, green and orange dye inks....I then stamped and die cut a small tag and placed the 'celebrate' word die on it and added a ribbon as well....
I have also added two strips of foil cardstock at the top of the card...and a few small rhinestones to decorate the card as well...
Hope you liked this card....

Post#193 - Distress Inks Lifting Technique Card

Image
Whenever I learn something new from a tutorial,I usually do a trial and then plan out the actual project...today's card was a trial which turned out pretty great so I went ahead and finished the card with it...
I have followed a tutorial by Jennifer McGuire in which she teaches the Distress Inks Lifting Technique
So I have white heat embossed the image, then covered the whole top layer liberally with dusty concord distress ink...with a brush and water,I painted the inside of the flowers, stems and leaf....this lightened the colour and once dry I painted in the flowers with picked raspberry and the stems with mowed lawn distress ink....
I heat embossed the sentiment with white heat embossing powder as well....rounded two corners of the top layer and the card base....and decorated the card with a few adhesive white pearls...
If you like playing with distress inks then you should try this technique as well....
Hope you liked my card....

Post#192 - Simple Thank You Card

Image
Today I'm sharing a simple card made by using an embossing folder and white ink on Vellum paper....and using just two shades of blue and plain white....
The card base is 5x5 inches light blue textured cardstock....the first is dark blue and the next layer is white embossed cardstock...
Then I used white StazOn ink to stamp on vellum paper using a stamp from EK Success Punch Pairings set called Floral Doodle....I adhered the stamped and slightly coloured in image onto a dark blue base with the help of small white brads and then attached it to the card...
This card didn't take too long to make and still looks pretty nice and neat....
Hope you liked it...

Post#191 - Distress Inks Background Thank You Card

Image
I just love how many different ways you can use distress inks....and almost all results are unique.....and it's so much fun creating with them...
For this card I have used a plain yellow card base and rounded two opposite corners....then I cut watercolour paper to size and started preparing for my unique print....all I needed was 4 mini distress ink pads and a rectangular stamping block...after stamping with the ink pads directly onto the block,I sprayed it with water and quickly stamped it onto the top layer....it was runny at a few places so I  simply absorbed the excess with a paper towel...
Once the inks were dry,I splattered a bit of bright twinkling H2O watercolour with a paint brush and dried it up with a heat gun...
The sentiment has been stamped and die cut and placed near the bottom of the card...and I have used  a lot of clear sequins in various sizes to fill up and decorate the card...
Hope you liked this one....

Image
So if you are into texting, tweeting etc.,then you know it's quite normal to use abbreviation (of the whole sentence) to wish someone on their birthday....and many other greetings...
My card today has a dark pink card base and the top layer is a Stampin Up DSP called Its My Party...I die cut two sizes of stitched circles and layered them....then I die cut the alphabets H,B & D from pink glitter cardstock and adhered those to the top circle....
I then cut a gold banner and a pink banner and layered them....again I die cut 2 and U from white glitter cardstock and adhered it to the banner....this was placed under the circles....
I have used gold and pink sequins to decorate the card....the DSP is black and closely printed so there wasn't much scope to add anything else...
Hope you liked this card....thanks for stopping by to take a look...

Post#189 - You Brighten My Day Card

Image
I have now started paying attention to all the small/tiny stamps in my collection, and am having a lot of fun by making card backgrounds using them....
The card base is a plain green one....and the top layer is white on which I have repeatedly stamped the small apple, orange and pear stamps....and because the background turned out so bright,I chose a sentiment that reflected the mood of the card....'you' word has been die cut from red glitter cardstock and placed on the card...I then stamped the words 'brighten my day' underneath...
I added two strips of gold and green glitter cardstock on one side and also added a few rhinestones under the sentiment....
Hope you liked this card...

Image
This card was a mixed bag in terms of how I wanted it to turn out....though still quite close to how I planned it, one step didn't give good results and another one turned out fantastic....
The card base is plain black 4.5 x 5.75 inches...the top layer is made from watercolour cardstock on which I have used a stars stencil to dab Versamark ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder...somehow the stars didn't come out that well and that was a bit of a disappointment but I carried on.....I then washed the top layer with three shades of blue and let it dry....
Then I prepared the Polaroid frame for the sentiment....since the sentiment was a bit wider than the original frame,I die cut only half the die and moved it a bit and cut the rest of it....this is a technique I have seen in quite a few tutorials by Jennifer McGuire...I hadn't tried it much and when I saw the results,I was extremely pleased...I used a grey paper as the backing of the frame and stamped the sent…

Image
I love the versatility of distress inks....they blend so well and also react with water/liquids to create a great dimension to any design...
For today's card, I started with a white plain cardstock base...The top layer is also white but has been coloured in with bright distress inks...once it was fully covered,I misted an embossing folder with a water filled spritzer and quickly stamped the top layer and dried it with a heat gun...then stamped the sentiment and used gold heat embossing powder for it.......I also added two thin strips of glitter cardstock at the base of the top layer before adhering it to the card base....
I stamped and coloured in the image of a little girl on a separate piece of cardstock and then cut it out....I have used adhesive sponge squares underneath the image to make it pop up on the card....and finally I have added quite a few sequins to decorate the card...
Hope you liked this one...

Image
I have never ever tried card kits before...I always felt that those are for people who want to try making cards without much of their own input and still end up with something beautiful...but when I saw the Hip Hip Hooray card kit on the Stampin' Up website,I thought I'd give it a try and find out exactly how these kits work....
This particular kit is very generous and has enough materials to make 20 lovely cards....but I decided to make only 4 of those as per the designs shown in the kit....the rest I will be making as per my liking and with some my own embellishments,stamps,etc.....
Hope you liked these cards...I liked the result but I will be trying out something different with this kit soon...I also think that giving someone crafty a small card kit would be a good gift idea as well...

Image
When it comes to using black cardstock for making cards,I have to really think hard to come up with a design which doesn't use any stamping at all....coz for me,no matter how much effort I put in...as soon as I stamp on black cardstock,it never works...but I'm not going to stop using black....
On a plain black cardstock base I have used a black top layer as well and rounded only two ends of the card...I then used a stitched scalloped border die to die cut strips in various colours and adhered them to the card....I added a strip of gold glitter cardstock at the top....
The sentiment is a wood veneer word which has been glued to the card....and I have used a few black sequins as embellishments....
Hope you liked this card...

Image
I've had this stamp set called Bubblegum Hills by Kaisercraft for a verrrryy long time but I haven't used it at all...every time I got the stamps out, I put them back as I had no idea what to create with it....and today I've finally put them back afterusing one of the stamps in the set...
The card base is plain blue...For the top layer I have used distress inks to create a bright background....I then stamped the image with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder...
The sentiment is stamped on a green banner and heat embossed as well...I did not want to add any more colours to this card so I used clear sequins to decorate it....
Hope you liked it...

Post#183 A Million And One Thanks

Image
Unlike the previous cards which were quite bright and colourful, today's card has very soft colours.....
The card base is light grey and the top layer is plain white....I have stamped various feather stamps on the top layer with light blue, grey and black ink...
For the sentiment,I stamped it on a small white rectangle piece of card  and rounded two opposing corners....I added a grey layer underneath it before adhering it to the card with foam squares....I have also added a few tiny blue rhinestones on the card...
It's a simple card and I hope you liked it....
