Image
Now that I have successfully tried out the WRMK photo sleeve fuse tool to make a tag, I tried to make a bookmark....bookmarks need to be quite flat and not bulky at all so I had to be careful about not adding any layers on the bookmark and also that the filling in the shaker pocket is quite flat and does not poke out to damage the pages of the book....
I took a narrow and long piece of paper to start with and folded it in half....then die cut a shape through both the layers...The plastic pocket sits between these two layers......I filled one of the bookmarks pocket with plastic flowers and the other with punched out 1/4" circles from paper in various colours...
One of the bookmarks has a few beads on a ribbon attached to the top and the other has a tassel that I made out of bakers twine...
I wonder what else I can try out with the fuse tool....
Hope you liked these bookmarks...

Image
Post Number 50.....sounds sooooo good when I say it out loud... :)
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.....each one of you encourage me to do better and keep going...
Here I have tried the very popular distress inks watercolour effect with embossing folders....for this card I wanted to use the whole piece on the card and also try and keep the embossed parts from getting ink on them so it stands out better....
After the embossed layer was dry I attached it to the card base....then I took a strip of blue paper same as the card base and used the stitched border die to create a slanting stitch effect on it...I added the die cut word hello on top and then adhered it to the card...
I like how bright and colourful this card turned out...Hope you liked it too....

Image
The very first gift box I ever made was an Origami box....Its so simple and I can make it at anytime and almost any size without looking for instructions...Even my kids can... :)
There are heaps of videos and tutorials on the net if you would like to make one......All you need is a square sheet of paper for the lid and another about 1/2" smaller than that for the base....
Origami boxes can be made from any kind of paper....usually thin paper for easy folding.....but because I wanted to make a sturdy box I used card stock for the base....
Once the box was ready, I decorated it with three banners and a stamped sentiment ....
Hope you liked it...

Image
One of the extra things you can do with the WRMK 1 2 3 Punch Board is to create envelope liners...the instructions come in the package with the punch board....
I personally wouldn't line an envelope if its being mailed...but I like to line envelopes for cards which I don't seal the envelope of and are being hand delivered to the recipient....
Here I've used a printed paper to line a plain coloured envelope and vice versa...
I hope you liked the look of these envelopes...

Image
I have some printed papers with beautiful watercolour  effects on them and tend to use them quite often and I wanted to try making a similar paper/background for this card using Peerless Watercolours....
To create the first layer of the card I used a chevron stencil on top of the paper and started dabbing in a few different colours on the watercolour paper...I didn't want it to be perfect so did not bother much about stencilling it perfectly....
Once the watercolour was dry,I heat embossed the sentiment at the top and then attached three punched out banners in various sizes and colours to finish the card...
Hope you liked it...

Image
One of my favourite ways to use distress inks is to use them on an embossing folder and spraying with a bit of water to create a kind of bright watercolour effect...you really can't go wrong with this technique...
After embossing I let the paper dry and then cut it into 3 long strips and added them to an orange cardstock base and adhered them to the blue card base...
Then using the same blue cardstock I die cut a  hi word and a hexagon shape around the word...I used the negative die  section by attaching a silver paper at the back...a few punched flowers were added for decoration and the card was ready...
Hope you liked it.

Image
Here's another shaped birthday card...these kind of cards are a bit difficult to decorate but are good for a change from regular square or rectangular cards...and they can easily be attached to presents, gift baskets or floral bouquets....
The card base has been created using a scalloped square die...I like how the die has created an embossed border at the edge...to get this effect I had added a few shims of paper on top of the cutting plate while I was die cutting....without having to run it again through my Cuttlebug using an embossing mat.....
The front panel was stamped and only two of the edges rounded...The sentiment was stamped on a vellum paper and then die cut using a tag die...lastly I added a tiny piece of string through the tag...
Hope you like this card...

Image
Shaker cards and tags are so beautiful and I have tried making a few for Christmas last year.....but they were so bulky and thick due to all the craft foam added to create the shaker window, so i didn't try making them again...till now....
The very amazing Jennifer McGuire has figured out a way to make these cards the easy way using  plastic pockets and the WRMK fuse tool...Here's the link for her Window Shaker Card..Jump to 09:05 if you only like to see how she uses the fuse tool to create a pocket...

I used the largest eyelet squares die to create the tag base....then I created a shaker pocket separately using a plastic sleeve and WRMK fuse tool....I filled the pocket with some sequins and hearts and attached it to the square frame die cut from printed paper...before attaching this to the tag base,I added the die cut word 'love' to the base so that it shows through the clear shaker window...
A couple of hearts punched from red cardstock and a ribbon was added to fin…

Image
This is my kind of card....simple and quick to make....needs only a handful of supplies....and the end result is as good as any other card...
Here I've used a Kraft cardstock to create the card base and stamped a very beautiful border stamp with white pigment ink...used a heat gun to dry the ink quickly...then I punched out circle shapes out of  shiny gold paper in various sizes and adhered them to the card...On one of these circles- the largest one- I stamped the sentiment...
Hope you liked it...

Image
I wanted to make a card with no printed paper or background stamping....So I chose a white base and a white front panel...
On the panel I attached shapes in various colours from the Sizzix banner triplits die set...paper scraps came in quite handy for this....then I stamped the word 'congratulations' onto the panel and attached it to the card base....also added a few gold sequins here and there..
Hope you liked it...

Post#41 Simple and quick goodie box

Image
This has become my favorite way to pack small gift items.....there are no measurements or cutting required....you just need paper in a size that will fit the item and glue tape...
It looks almost like Sunnyboy which is an Australian brand of flavoured ice block and the packaging has a very distinctive tetrahedral shape.....
Decorating these boxes is not very difficult and you can keep it simple like I did or really go for it with the decorations...

I learned how to make these a few years ago from Pootles blog(pootles.co.uk) and have since then made way too many of these..For those of you who want to try this out.....Here is the excellent video tutorial from Sam...

And the next time you're packing a gift.....try packing it this way....

Image
Today I'm sharing an easel style card....the best part about this card style is that it can be displayed nicely on a desk or shelf.....at the same time it folds flat for easy postage...
For this card I used a plain coloured base...the front grey panel is embossed...and the sentiment is stamped on a die cut...

I have also added a few stamped flowers and leaves to decorate the card...
Hope you liked it.

Image
Paper rosettes look so very beautiful......Previously I have made huge roesttes as wall decorations....made small ones to decorate presents and gift boxes.....and even few as decorations for our Christmas tree...so I this time I made one to decorate a tag...
This is a very large die cut tag...to make the rosette,I used an edge punch  on the full length of the paper strip before making score lines for the rosette...and since the paper rosette is the main feature of this tag,I did not add other things on it...
There is a simple best wishes stamp in the middle of the rosette...and a gold glitter tape under it.....ribbons and a bit of string finish the tag nicely...
Hope you liked it.

Image
The best part about stamps is that you can use most of them repeatedly to create a custom background for your card instead of looking for a coordinating printed paper which works with your layout....
Here I have used a tiny circular stamp to create a background....and the silver sequins give it a bit of sparkle...The main sentiment is stamped directly onto the front panel and the same ink was used to stamp and punch one circle which was then adhered onto the card with adhesive foam squares....
The two feathers were stamped on vellum paper, heat embossed with white embossing powder, coloured in and die cut before attaching to the card...
Hope you liked this card.

Image
I think it is quite sensible to give a simple gift card instead of a present to someone you don't know very well and let them choose something themselves...what you can do is to present the gift card in a more beautiful way and not in the very boring printed card holder that retailers give you....
I have used the WRMK envelope punch board here and just scored and punched three sides of the 5" square cardstock instead of four...the fourth end has been left open and you can see a  hint of the gift card inside...
I decided not use double sided paper for this project....instead I used a stencil and distress inks to print a design on the back of the printed paper...the front of the envelope pouches are decorated with die cuts and stamped sentiments...
Hope you liked these.

Image
This project started out as a tag but ended up as a card...And I think it looks better this way...I guess I'll make that tag some other time.... :)
On a white card base I added a panel made from three different printed card papers....Then I stamped a few different flowers on another beige printed paper and punched them out using the coordinating flower punch...put an adhesive pearls on each of these flowers and then attached them to the panel....
The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed...and only two sides of the panel and sentiment section were rounded by a corner punch...
Thank you for stopping by....Hope you liked this card...

Image
My daughters and I have enjoyed making fringe cards....they are fun to make and the end result is always beautiful....but this time I wanted to try this technique on a tag...
I used two strips each of 3 different shades of pink....the topmost layer has to be a bit wider than the rest  to leave some space for  punching a hole for the ribbon....cut all these strips three quarters of the way to the top with fringe scissors...then attach these layers onto the die cut tag base starting from the bottom layer upwards...The sentiment was attached with a few mounting foam squares...
Hope you liked it.

Image
A lot of time was spent on this card to come up with a layout that I was happy with....I also tried out these stitch effect circle dies the first time....I really like these dies and will probably end up using them a lot...
I attached an orange panel on the front of a cream card base....and then stuck die cut circles and few circle frames in orange, brown and cream onto the front panel...I also attached a bit of gold string behind the die cut with the sentiment stamped on it...
Hope you liked this card.

Image
Continuing the kids theme from yesterday,I'm sharing this pencil gift box that I made....This is a tried and tested item for giving to primary school age kids as a party favour or as a present on its own.....kids love it...
The base is made of Kraft cardstock holds exactly 4 pencils and slides out like a match box....There is a small piece of ribbon at the top to pull the base out easily...The red outer shell is decorated with a bright printed paper, a stamped sentiment and a few rhinestones...
Hope you liked it.

Image
These corner bookmarks have been extremely popular over the past few years....and I have made quite a few of these myself...they are pretty easy and quick to make and look really cute...
It doesn't matter how old my kids get, if I make only one of these there will be a huge tantrum from the other one who doesn't get a bookmark...so whenever I make these, I always have to make two.... :)
Hope you liked these bookmarks.

Image
This is a very basic gift bag made out of Kraft cardstock......It can be used for presents, party favors or even as packaging to share some yummy homemade cookies, snacks etc...

After making the bag,I folded the top down and held that in place with a ribbon...I hate it when the handles of a gift bag come off...so closing it like this prevents that from happening...

At the front of the bag I stamped a doily stamp with red ink and placed another smaller stamped image with dimensionals...

Hope you liked it.

Image
A while ago I saw this very beautiful card on Pinterest....it used chevron die cuts in various colours placed together....then cut into strips and then glued again by slightly changing the positions of the chevron sections...the link has currently been blocked by Pinterest for some security issues so I can't share the link here...but here's the tag I made using that card as my inspiration...
I like how the chevron design looks so intricate by this simple process....I placed it on a very large die cut tag...added a ribbon and sentiment to finish the tag...
Hope you liked it...

Image
More often than not, mistakes happen while crafting...sometimes things go horribly wrong and we have to scrap the whole thing and start again...but not before we've tried everything we can to salvage the project...
This has been one of those projects for me...I had stamped and coloured in the flowers and added a sentiment as well and was about to adhere it to the card base when I smudged the still wet ink badly...I thought I could hide it with a ribbon or put a die cut sentiment on top to somehow conceal the disaster...but nothing looked good and i had to put it away just so I could come up with a good plan....
And the idea came a few days later...I cut out the undamaged part of card out and placed it on another white card layer that I had embossed with dots...Also this time I stamped carefully and added a few pearls at the top....
Hope you liked the card...

Image
I have made this gift box quite a number of times....And everyone I've given this to has been very happy to receive it....I'm a tea person and I know a lot of people who love a good cup of tea....and this is just a perfect small gift to say thank you or hello....
This box has 4 individual envelopes and each one holds one tea bag...And while this was originally designed for tea bags,I feel it can easily hold small gifts like chocolate, stickers or simple stud earrings and other such things...
I have followed instructions and dimensions shared by Sam Donald on her website and here's the link in case you'd like to try this out yourself....

Image
This time when I wanted to use a Polaroid frame die cut on a card,I thought to make things easy for myself and do the layout like a scrapbook page....
The card is a square white and the top layer had been created using a stencil and distress inks....then a couple of die cut hearts were added and then the Polaroid frame...the word xoxo was cut out of the frame and another one in red added in its place...and lastly the sentiment was placed at the top which is in the shape of an arrow...
I have again used vellum paper to stamp the Fizzy Moon stamp and coloured it in and then added to the back of the picture frame...
Hope you like it.

Image
A bokeh effect card background has been on my to do list for a very long time...every time I looked up a tutorial,I thought it wasn't my cup of tea as it involved repeating a lot of steps which involved heat embossing etc......I wanted and easier and quicker version so I came up with my own technique for this card ...
I started with a stencil and mustard seed distress ink and printed circles in various sizes all over one section of the card....then I did the same with clear Versamark ink and covered the rest of the section lightly with mowed lawn and shabby shutters distress inks and a bit of mustard seed distress ink as well....and lastly I used white pigment ink to lightly print a few circles here and there...
The sentiment is stamped on a circle and attached to the paper bow using a gold string...
Hope you liked this card...

Post#25 Match Box Style Small Gift Box

Image
Sometimes we just don't know how to wrap a small present.....the shops usually hand things to us in a standard bag and tissue paper packaging which is often too big for the item itself...And for this very reason I like this match box style gift box...
The slide out part of the box is very easy to make using the envelope punch board...the outer layer is simply scored to fit around that ...and then to decorate I put on an adhesive printed tape around the box lid....added a couple of die cut feathers and punched flowers....and the box was ready...
Hope you liked it.
